Chase Turns 2 - Elmo Style!

Little Owen was due on Chase's 2nd Birthday and our dear friends the Monsons were moving away at the end of June, so we threw Chase a very early 2nd Birthday party the 3rd week of June.  The boy was in love with Elmo at the time, so, of course, that's the type of party we had to have.  (Plus, mom had already thrown an Elmo party for an older brother a few years before, so she has that theme down pat.)
This picture actually has nothing to do with the party.  But I love it, so it has to be included.  :-)
Chase was not so sure about the whole pinata thing.

Can you see the skepticism on his face.  It really must be pretty confusing to 2 year olds to be told to beat one of their favorite characters with a bat to get candy.  Huh?  Isn't that doing pretty much everything they're told on a daily basis not to do?

 Go Jaylee girl, go!
Look at the determination on Thais's face!  She hated the idea of hitting the Elmo pinata at her 2nd Birthday too.  Apparently, you get over it by 5.  ;-)

 Cupcake time! Yay!
Mmmmmm... Elmo cupcakes!  Somehow, the thought of eating Elmo didn't throw Chase off nearly as much.
 "See Mom?  It's yummy!"
The cupcakes in all their glory.
Cupcakes for breakfast the next day?  Sure!!!  After all, you only turn 2 once.  :-)
We had so much fun celebrating Chase's Birthday.  I'm so glad we did it far in advance.  We loved having the Monsons be a part of it as well as all of the other friends and neighbors who joined us that day, and it was great for me to get it out of the way without worrying about the party getting postponed due to baby brother making his arrival.  We love that Chaser boy!  He taught us all about being a very curious and adventurous toddler.  No countertop was too high, no light switch untouched, no surface safe from artwork.  But also, no arms left unhugged, no song unsung, no sad moment without a huge Chasey grin.  For all the mischief he brought to our home, he added far more in laughter and smiles.  Happy 2nd Birthday Chase!
